Let’s talk about that amazing vitamin/hormone we produce from sunlight exposure and get in small amounts from our food.
Vitamin D seriously is like the SUPER NUTRIENT! It is pretty much involved in every chemical reaction going on in our body.
And sadly most people are now low in Vitamin D, that 'slip slop slap' campaign has worked like a treat but now we are all deficient! And levels between 50-70 do not cut it. We want it up over 100 and some say between 150-200 is ideal.
Did you know :
*those cheap chemical laden Sunscreens block vitamin D synthesis
*Window/glass also blocks vitamin D synthesis – think driving in your car
*You get bugger all Vit D from food – the sun is WAY better
*You really do need to get those arms and legs out for at least 15-20 mins a day to get adequate Vitamin D (there are a lot of variables to this but it’s a great start!).
So… lets get those legs out and soak up some rays whenever you can! Considering it is essential for calcium absorption and proper Immune function (not to mention 101 other things) your body will love you for it!
